-
Prerequisites: must have completed a six week series or have instructor approval to join class. Basic silks knowledge is required: how to work up to climbs, footlocks, hip keys, inverting in a knot, how to wrap in a single footlock.
Mixed Levels Silks is a class for advanced beginner- intermediate students to train a variety of silks skills depending on the interest of the class. This class may include working on endurance through sequences. -
Private lessons are available for beginner-intermediate silks students. For silks students in particular we can also set up the aerial rig in the summer months, which is an additional cost. We will request that you send us what you want to work on prior to setting up a private lesson so that we can best accommodate.

As much skin coverage as possible, ideally! At the very least, wearing leggings and a t shirt works well. The fabric can "burn" exposed skin with friction.
If you really want to go all out, wearing a leotard (that isn’t low cut on either side) is a great option with leggings over the top. In the summer months we recommend a pair of tights under a pair of shorts if you’re really not wanting to wear leggings. Shopping locally, leotards can be purchased at Applause in Moorhead.

No prior experience is necessary for the beginner classes. “Beginner” in aerial silks is a wide range of skills so you may be in class with people who have been coming for some time. We will split the class depending on where everyone is at to make sure that you have a positive experience.
If you’d like to deep dive into the basics with other newbies we recommend signing up for the six week series if there is one coming up.

A full water bottle. We are located in Unit C which doesn’t have a fountain so we have a fill station but want to cut down on waste from cups, so at least bring your own bottle for water.
A positive attitude! Aerial arts can be tricky to get the hang of in the beginning and as adults we tend to feel really critical of ourselves if we don’t get something right away. It is going to take time and that is okay! Aerial hoop in particular is nice in the sense that there are a lot of seated positions and therefore more accessible than say- silks.

We do not offer refunds. Classes can be rescheduled up to 4 hours in advance. After the 4 hour mark we will not allow rescheduling and the class will be lost. This is to ensure that we have enough students to hold a class. If we do not meet the minimum amount of three students we will cancel the class and the credit will be returned.

So many people think this! We start you from the beginning and work you up as you gain strength, body awareness, and flexibility. You don’t need to be able to do a pull up or even hang from a bar to be able to join classes. All we ask is that you are willing to try! We can also keep the hoops quite low to the ground as well.

Students must be at least 15 with parent’s permission. We have dedicated classes for youth 14 and under.

Make sure to eat and drink lots of water that day and the day before. Try not to eat a heavy meal at least an hour before class. Maintaining good personal hygiene (recent shower, antiperspirant/deodorant), and staying away from strong perfumes as we have students who are allergic.
Try to arrive 5-10 minutes early for your first class to get a feel for the studio, where to put your things, meet the teacher, etc.

Progress is not linear- especially in aerial arts. We recommend coming to classes at least once a week for the first couple of months to build grip, core strength, and shoulder stability slowly and taking videos so that you can refer back to them if you come to open aerial. Video is the best way that you can see yourself progress!
Ideally 2-3 times a week is where we see incredible amounts of progress, whether that is classes or a mix with open training time. Just spending time in the apparatus practicing what you’ve learned will help you gain strength and endurance. We’ve designed our six week series intro series in this way to have additional practice time so that students who use it have the time to gain better understanding of the tricks/skills by practicing them over again.

Yes, men are welcome to take pole classes. Our studio is a very feminine space and also a very vulnerable space for students. As long as you are genuinely interested in learning pole for the art/fitness aspect itself then you are welcome to join in 100%. As a heads up for people with external genitalia (sorry I don’t know how else to say it) we recommend investing in a dance belt (can be also be found at Applause in Moorhead).
Class Policies
Attire: For drop in pole classes we require shorts. The stretchy kind is best, but shorts of any kind will work. For aerial drop in classes we ask students to please cover the backs of their knees, lower back, and under the arms. Not required but it will make the class experience much more positive!
Late Arrivals: If you arrive late due to life you are still welcome to join class, however we will not extend the class or move the class time due to tardiness. You will also be asked to warm yourself up.
Severe weather: We will follow Fargo Public Schools for decisions on weather to cancel due to severe weather. If FPS cancels then we will cancel activities as well. You will receive a notification as well no later than 2pm. In the summer, we will cancel aerial classes due to high heat. Should the heat index exceed 95 degrees we will reschedule class.
Refunds/Makeup Classes: Due to having limited spots and studio availability, we will not offer refunds or makeup classes for missed classes. You can reschedule on your account up to 4 hours before the start of class time. Less than 4 hour notice will result in loss of the class without refund or rescheduling. We require a 4 hour notice so that we can notify people early if we need to cancel the class.
Class Minimum: We require three people to hold class! If there are not enough people we will send a message at least 4 hours in advance letting you know that the class is canceled.
Sick/Recovering: Please stay home if you are sick! We still require a four hour notice, but we ask that you please send us a text if you aren’t feeling great. If you are coughing/ sneezing you’ll be asked to wear a mask for the duration of the class.
